Visiting the museum-ship SMS Leitha

Yesterday I added a new post and photo album to "One man in Europe" describing my visit to the Hungarian Parliament building in Budapest. I have just completed a second post for the day relating to my discovery of the museum ship S.M.S Leitha, a monitor class warship now fully restored and moored in front of the parliament building. Not well publicised even from close range I hope that you will take a turn around the deck with me at SMS Leitha - guarding the Danube . Enjoy.

The first post of the day related my trip around the sites of Budapest and Buda Castle in particular. Touring Buda and Pest .

Three posts in one day, something of a record even if it has taken me months lol.

 It is the 25th November 2017 as I write this on the 7th November 2022.... Hi folks, well it's some time since I wrote so here goes.... I had a visit from a good friend of mine recently who was a self confessed avid reader of my blogs. I explained that, as a result of my epic train journey across  my epic train journey giving so much material it became a daunting task to catch up. My return to the UK at the time of our permanent departure from the European Union rapidly followed by the Covid lockdown and subsequent economic turmoil including the war in Ukraine reduced my frame of mind to mush. I could not bring myself to "blog".  I feel especially sad about the Russian/Ukrainian situation as these were both countries I would have liked to visit at the time of my residence in Bulgaria. Thoughts from Hayling Island...

As I sit here in my garret as the rain pours down one suspects that the summer has come on gone in the few days of tropical heat we experienced last week. I took advantage of one of those days, a Saturday as it happened, to mount my trust e-tricycle and pedal north firstly to Havant then east to Emsworth. This had a profound effect as I sat outside the Flintstones Tea Room near the harbour eating a very tasty baked potato with prawn salad. A family at the next table were conversing in a mixture of  Spanish and English. I became very homesick for my friends in Spain where I had spent so many happy times and the start of my adventures. My heart ached as Patricia reminded me so much of  Dacil, daughter of the house. As you can gather I couldn't resist entering into conversation and mentioned my blogs. Hot Hoods on Hayling

It was a dark and stormy night... well not really it was actually a dark overcast morning dodging the rain after meeting friends for coffee. What a shame as, pencilled in my diary was a meet at 18:00 hrs (6pm) down on the seafront around John's Café near the Inn on the Beach restaurant. I had seen it advertised that it was to be held on the 1st Tuesday of the month during the summer. Unfortunately I missed it last month. How unfortunate that I would miss it again. But, as you can see, the sun came out during the late afternoon so I set off on my trusty trike at about 5, stopping at the Pebble Beach for a coffee and cheeseburger. Preplanning see... the event would either be crowded or John's Café would be closed. I peddled along to the site of the event at about 18:30 hrs (6.30 pm) to find the approach road lined with all manner of custom cars. Arriving at John's Cafe the carpark was full of admiring spectators and a wide range of lovingly restored and prepared vehicles. Man
