Spinukers at Pebble Beach...

Fancy that I had a mind that my next post would be "Spinnaker", turned out to be "Spinuker". After a night of thunderstorms and a grey dull morning I thought that I would not be venturing far today so a chance to catch up on the blogs however the skies started to brighten by about 11 am so I thought a cycle ride was in order and a late breakfast. Turning into the main drag I could see a good crowd around Pebble Beach, was this why Jane had asked me if I was coming down today?

Is it a group, a band, a consortium or a collection of like minded people? Whatever "Spinuker" produce some lively music ranging across many genres using a wide variety of pickers. A perfect time for coffee and a baguette or ice-cream if you prefer as the heat was returning to the sun. I opted for the afore mentioned coffee and a bacon baguette. Seating myself in a position to appreciate the music and the crowd gathered around and growing by the minute. What more could I ask for, reminded of my lifestyle abroad. Happy times!

I decided that a photo of the "Pebble Beach" girls was required. They work hard come rain or shine and always have a smile and a welcome. Unfortunately Jane, their wrangler, was nowhere in sight especially as she is probably sponsoring the appearance of the group. I noticed later that she was sitting with friends a rare opportunity to put her feet up and relax. She is normally on the go seven days a week but still finds time to be an expert kite surfer. Rock on Jane.

Puffing Billy steamed past carrying visitors from Eastoke station to the funfair. Having sat for a couple of hours I decided to have a ride down to Eastoke corner to see if there was any action there. When I arrived a group were setting up under the marque erected last week, sound checks intimidated some rock music to come. I'll report back later...

.... meanwhile what are the prospects for fine weather for the rest of the weekend and into next week?

As always these and more photographs can be found in my Hayling Island album, enjoy.

I didn't find out what was happening at Eastoke when I returned later in the afternoon....

Cycling past Pebble Beach I noticed a band all dressed in red tee-shirts, investigation required and that was as far as I got. Singing some old time music hall numbers the crowd joining in. Why not stop and enjoy, the coffee is good too. Jane had returned to work mode so I did not get the chance to ask about the name of the first performers. Have I got this wrong, were they the Spinnakers as I had first thought? The tee-shirts clearly say "UKES". I shall investigate tomorrow.
